The heat didn't stop these families from coming out to Hometown Days on Thursday evening for the carnival. Yorkville's annual Labor Day weekend festival at opened with free admission Thursday.

The carnival will continue through Sunday, with $20 unlimited ride wristbands available Saturday and Sunday, according to the city's website. Tickets are $1.25 each, and most rides cost three to five tickets, the website states.
