Yorkville Police Assist Illinois Conservation Police in Standoff

Incident happened early Saturday morning and kept residents in the area in their homes for several hours.

Yorkville Police assisted the Illinois Conservation Police in a traffic stop incident that turned into a stand-off early Saturday, April 6.

At about 4:45 a.m. Yorkville police responded to the area of Trillium Court, Yorkville, to assist the Illinois Conservation Police with a suspect that had fled during a traffic stop and now refused to exit his residence.

Police spent several hours negotiating with the suspect, who refused to exit the house, said Yorkville police.

A resident who lived in the area said Crooked Creek Drive was blocked off during the incident and police would not let anyone in our out. All residents were asked to stay inside their homes during the incident.

After several hours it was determined there was no safety issue and officers cleared the area, said Yorkville Police.
