Two Aurora Men Charged with Multiple Boat Thefts

All boats were taken from the Barber Green Hunting and Fishing Club in 2012.

Two Aurora men have been charged with six counts of theft in relation to boat theft incidents that occurred in August 2012, according to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.

Thomas Richards, 59, and Jerry Richards, 65 both of the 500 block of South Loucks Street, Aurora, were arrested on March 12 and charged with six counts of theft, Class A misdemeanors.

Sheriff’s deputies first responded to a report of a boat theft on Nov. 29, 2012 at the Barber Green Hunting and Fishing Club, located in the 6000 block of Route 71, Oswego.

The victim said their boat had been taken sometime during August 2012 from the club.

The Sheriff’s office received five other reports of boats that had been reported taken in August 2012.

An investigation was launched and on Jan. 24, 2013, a warrant was issued for both Thomas and Jerry Richards.

They are currently in custody at the Kendall County Jail with bond of $5,000 or 10 percent each.
