Sugar Grove Man Dies in Fatal Crash Friday on Randall Road

Batavia police fill in details about the crash.

Baavia Police identified the man who died after a two-car crash Friday on Randall Road.

The man is 61-year-old David A. Schele of Sugar Grove, according to Batavia police.

Schele died due to injuries sustained in the crash, according to a police press release issued Saturday.

"Schele had been transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL," the release said. "The cause of the crash is still under investigation."

Schele's vehicle and another vehicle with a male and female inside were involved in in Batavia. The city's police, fire and Emergency Services & Disaster Agency crews were dispatched to the scene at about 6:22 p.m. Friday.

The male and female were treated and released at the scene, said Lt. Scott Hogan of the Batavia Fire Department.

The two cars involved in the crash were towed from the scene, Hogan said. Heavy damage was reported for both vehicles in the crash. A Patch reporter saw small pieces of glass in the northbound lanes of Randall Road just north of McKee Street after police reopened the roads. Randall Road traffic was blocked Friday between Mill Street and Wilson Street for about four hours following the crash.
