Sheriff’s Deputies Respond to Call of Man with a Gun

The individual was located on the Fox River and taken into custody. He was not found with any weapons.

A report of a “suspicious person” resulted in quite the run-around of Yorkville earlier today by the Kendall County Sheriff’s office.

Deputies were dispatched at about 11:09 a.m. to the 0-100 block of Yorkville Road, Yorkville for a report of a suspicious person who may have been in possession of a weapon.

Upon arrival, the individual was not located and deputies canvassed the area.

Tips from the public revealed that the subject was possibly in the 8000 block of Van Emmon Road in an occupied home.

The Sheriff’s office said it was alleged the homeowner asked the man to leave and there was no further confrontation.

After departing that residence the subject then allegedly entered an unoccupied residence.

Sheriff’s deputies arrived and found the subject on the Fox River, after reportedly taking a canoe from a nearby resident’s backyard.

Sheriff’s deputy Bryan Harl called the incident a “kind of quasi-foot pursuit.”

Patch readers reported seeing multiple Sheriff’s office vehicles on Tuma Road and then later Route 47 around 2 p.m. during the timeframe of the incident.

The subject was identified as Andrew Lewis, 28, of the 600 block of Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, and he was taken into custody without incident.

No weapons were located and deputies do not believe a weapon was involved.

He was charged with criminal trespass to residence and his bond is set at $1,500 with 10 percent to apply.
