Residents Show some Appreciation for the Yorkville Police Department for Police Week

Add your own fun or personal stories or thoughts about the Yorkville Police Department.

As you might know, Police Week kicked off on Monday.

For a little backstory, in 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation that designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.

Tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice during the week.

Megan C. Officer Jacob Bledsoe, thank you for all your help with my order of protection against my ex husband, as well as your kind words. It still means the world to me.

Barbara Z. Detective Stacy Mott, very helpful, and professional.

Diana J. I don't know who the officers were, but on the day of the "BIG STORM" I was coming into the bakery in the early morning hours and it was still pretty dark out. Route 34,71 & Wolf was a mess. The rain was coming down so hard and an officer was standing in the middle of the road trying to direct traffic. No stop lights, rain practically coming at him sideways. He couldn't see because of the rain and we couldn't see him for the same reason. He was literally taking his life in his hands to help us get thru the intersection.
