Police: Yorkville Man Accused of Posing as Federal Agent
Richard Zentz walked into a business wearing the clothing and badge of a federal agent and carrying a loaded gun, according to Yorkville police.
UPDATED: 2:15 p.m. Wednesday
Bank employees called around 4 p.m. Monday when a man walked into their facility carrying a loaded gun and wearing a U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency badge, Yorkville Deputy Police Chief Larry Hilt said.
Richard Zentz, 53, of the 1400 block of Orchid Street, wasn’t trying to rob Old Second National Bank, 26 W. Countryside Parkway, but he wasn’t a DEA agent either, Hilt said.

“He had on a DEA polo shirt with two DEA logos, and he had a DEA badge on his belt next to the gun he was wearing,” said Hilt.
Zentz was charged with impersonating a police officer while carrying a deadly weapon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, Yorkville police said in a news release. Both charges are felonies.

Zentz told police he was going through hard times and feeling stress but he did not believe his attire amounted to impersonating a DEA agent, Hilt said. He did not try to receive any benefit or influence at the bank because of his attire, Hilt said.
Bank employees who knew him did not believe he was a police officer, so they called the Yorkville police, Hilt said.
