Police: Local Teen Charged with Heroin Possession

Sheriff's police found heroin when helping 19-year-old with difficulty breathing, according to a news release.

A 19-year-old Yorkville area man is facing a felony heroin possession charge after authorities helped him with difficult breathing, according to a news release.

Christopher Watts, of the 0-20 block of Hillside Drive, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony typically punishable with probation or up to three years in prison, the news release states. He turned himself in Sept. 30 and posted 10 percent of his $10,000 bond.

Police and paramedic were called to a single-family home about 11 p.m. Aug. 18, where they found Watts with troubled breathing, the news release states. Paramedics took him to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, and sheriff's deputies found suspected heroin at the scene. Tests at the Illinois State Police Crime Lab confirmed the substance was heroin, the news release states.

Sheriff's police were unable to determine or release to the public what caused Watts difficult breathing, but that is one of the signs of a heroin overdose.
