Police: DUI Accident Damages Cornfield

The driver "missed the road" early Saturday morning, sheriff's police said.

A 25-year-old Yorkville man was charged with drunk driving after he “missed the road” and ended up in a cornfield early Saturday morning, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office said.

Richard Gay, of the 500 block of West Hydraulic Street, drove into a cornfield off Caton Farm Road near Schlapp Road about 5:40 a.m., according to a Sheriff’s Office news release. The single-vehicle accident happened southwest of Yorkville.

Gay was not injured, but his car and the cornfield sustained “substantial damage,” the news release stated. He told sheriff’s police that he “missed the road and then went into the field,” Sheriff’s Deputy Craig French said.
