Several Charges After Snowmobile Stop

Jerrol Andre Humphries, 46, of the first block of North Cannonball Trail, Bristol, tried to flee on foot at about 11 p.m. when Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies stopped to help him with a malfunctioning snowmobile, police said.

He gave them a false name, and ultimately was charged with obstructing identification, driving while license suspended, obstructing a peace officer and possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana, according to a news release. He also was cited with operating on uninsured motor vehicle, insufficient reflective material on a snowmobile and operating an unnumbered snowmobile, police said. He also was arrested on a warrant from Aurora Police Department alleging driving under the influence of drugs, police said.

A 59-year-old Yorkville area woman reported that someone had used her American Midwest Bank debit card twice without her permission.

Monday, Jan. 16

Warrant Arrest Reported

Renee Monique Shirley, 46, of the 300 block of Kendall Drive, Yorkville, was charged at about 12:30 a.m. with speeding and failure to notify the Secretary of State of an address change, police said. She also was arrested on a Will County warrant related to failure to appear in court in connection with a fraud case.

Same Man, Different Cases

  • Bryant Jay Smith, 33, of the first block of Crooked Creek Drive, Yorkville, was charged at about 3:40 p.m. with speeding 65 mph in a 50-mph zone, failure to signal, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, police said.
  • Bryant Jay Smith, 33, of the first block of Crooked Creek Drive, Yorkville, was charged at about 3:20 p.m. with two counts of harassment by electronic communications after police said he sent several hundred text messages to a female after she told him to stop.

Driving Offenses Reported

Stephanie Valazquez Cabral, 23, of the 600 block of Londonberry Lane, Bolingbrook, was charged at about 8 a.m. with driving while license suspended and disobeying a traffic control device, police said.

Courthouse Sign Damaged

Someone damaged a no smoking sign at the Kendall County Courthouse between 8 to 10:20 a.m.

Charged with Speeding

Christopher T. Blackmon, 33, of the 3200 block of 105th Place, Homewood, was charged at about 2:50 a.m. with speeding more than 30 mph over the speed limit at Route 47 and Amment Road, police said.

Friday, Jan. 6

Industrial Equipment Stolen

A 67-year-old Bristol man reported that someone had removed several pieces of industrial equipment from his property, police said. The items, valued at about $3,950, were taken around Thanksgiving.

Hit-and-Run Accident Reported

A 25-year-old Yorkville man reported that someone had struck his vehicle without leaving a note or other notification, police said. The incident happened between 9 and 11:30 p.m. at Refrigeration Unlimited, 58 N. Cannonball Trail, Bristol.

Unlocked Vehicle Robbed

A wallet, vacuum pump and rear-view back-up camera were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the first block of Oaklawn Avenue in Bristol.

Financial Exploitation Reported

An 81-year-old Yorkville woman reported paying a high amount of money for work that was completed at her home.
