Police Blotter: Thieves Wielded Pepper Spray After Taking Clothing from Dick's

Robbery at Dick's Sporting Goods

Three people stole more than $1,000 in clothing from Dick’s Sporting Goods, 825 Erica Lane, at about 6:45 p.m., Yorkville police said. Employees chased the offenders into the parking lot, where the offenders sprayed them with pepper spray, Yorkville Police Chief Rich Hart said.

Two Identity Theft Incidents Reported

  • A Yorkville resident reported $461 in unauthorized charges had been made to his or her credit card, Yorkville police said.
  • In a separate incident, a Yorkville woman reported that her debit card had been stolen and someone unsuccessfully tried to use it.

Driving Without a Valid License

Catherine M. Janik, 22, of the 16600 block of Edgewood Road, Plainfield, was charged with driving without a valid license at about 9:15 a.m. at routes 126 and 71, police said.

Broken Window Reported

A business in the 100 block of East Veterans Parkway reported a broken window.

Single-Vehicle Motorcycle Accident

A 50-year-old Naperville man was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora with minor injuries after he was thrown from his 2003 Harley Davidson at about 4 p.m. The incident happened while he was crossing the railroad tracks at Mill Road east of Allegiance Crossing, police said.
