Yorkville police reports, March 4-20

Sunday, March 20

Property Damage Reported

Yorkville police are investigating a reported $30 in criminal damage to property in the 800 block of Homestead Drive. The incident happened at 8:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Yorkville Police Department.

Van Damaged at State Park

A 72-year-old Yorkville man reported his 2008 Honda van had been damaged by what appeared to be “numerous small diameter projectiles,” according to a news release from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. This happened at about 4:30 p.m. at Silver Springs State Park, 14400 Fox Road. The damage was estimated at more than $500.

Saturday, March 19

No Injuries in Traffic Crash

Kathryn M. Schmidt, 76, of the 300 block of East Van Emmon Street, Yorkville, was charged with failure to yield after her 2003 Mercury Sable struck a 2004 GMC Yukon driven by a male juvenile, according to Yorkville police. The accident happened at about 2 p.m. at Liberty and Somonauk streets. No injuries were reported to police.

Driving While License Suspended

Stephen Paul Cartee, 20, of the 500 block of West Barberry Circle, Yorkville, was charged with driving while license suspended and failure to signal after an incident at 9:54 p.m. in the 200 block of South Bridge Street in Bristol, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Friday, March 18

St. Patty's Day Battery Reported

A man reported he was battered March 17 at Kendall Pub, 209 S. Bridge St. He reported the incident to Yorkville police at 9:05 a.m. March 18.

Two Financial Scams Reported

A man reported he was scammed out of $2,000 when he tried to purchase a horse trailer via the Internet, Yorkville police said. In a separate report, a man reported someone had fraudulently cashed two checks in his name totaling $4,500.

Battery At Park Reported

An unidentified woman grabbed a boy’s T-shirt, yelled at him and shook him about 5:38 p.m. at a park in the 2700 block of Grande Trail, Yorkville police said.

Teenaged Girl Charged With Domestic Battery

A 15-year-old Yorkville girl was charged with domestic battery after a physical altercation with her mother at 10:30 p.m. in the 11000 block of Legion Road, the Sheriff’s Office said. She also was charged with violating curfew and being a runaway.

Vacant Home Burglarized

Copper was taken from a vacant home in the 100 block of Willoughby Court, Yorkville police said.

Friday, March 11

Fight at High School Academy

A 15-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl were charged with disorderly conduct about 1:30 p.m. after a fight at the Yorkville High School Academy, Yorkville police said.

Wallet Stolen at High School

A 16-year-old boy was charged with theft about 2:30 p.m. after stealing a wallet from another student at Yorkville High School, Yorkville police said.
