Police Blotter: Individual Reports Theft of $10,000 From Checking Account

Theft Reported

A Yorkville resident reported an unknown individual made unauthorized debits of approximately $10,000 from a checking account, Yorkville police said. The withdrawals occurred over the course of a year, according to reports. Police are investigating.

Underage Drinking, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Kendall County deputies arrested 19-year-old Nicole T. Sherer of the 1400 block of Orchid Road and 19-year-old Katie E. Wehrly of the 200 block of Bluegrass Parkway in Oswego for underage possession of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop. According to reports Sherer was driving a vehicle on Route 34 at a high rate of speed. Officers noted a strong odor of alcohol and cannabis, according to reports. Officers discovered both girls had consumed alcohol and were in possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition to the alcohol and drug paraphernalia charged, Sherer was charged with speeding and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

DUI

Kendall County deputies charged 29-year-old Christopher William Benson of the 2000 block of Old Glory Court with DUI. Police stopped Benson at about 12:38 a.m. near the intersection of Orchard Road and Route 71 for speeding. Officers said they discovered Benson had consumed alcohol and charged him with DUI. He was also cited for speeding, according to reports.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle Reported

A stereo faceplate, books and electronics were stolen from the unlocked vehicle of a 45-year-old resident of the 1200 block of Prairie Lane, according to deputies. Officials did not give a value of the items.
