Police Blotter: Car Burglaries and Ketchup Vandalism

Yorkville police reports, Nov. 20-27

Sunday, Nov. 27

Vandalism Via Food

Knives, forks, ketchup and mustard were found over the driveway and vehicles parked outside a home in the 400 block of East Spring Street at about 7 a.m., Yorkville police said in a news release. Police said they are continuing the investigation and plan to pursue criminal charges.

Vehicle Burglary Reported

About $350 in damage was reported in the 1100 block of West Veteran’s Parkway from someone smashing the passenger-side window of a vehicle and taking a black bag from inside, Yorkville police said in a news release.

Credit Card Fraud Reported

A Yorkville resident reported about $700 in fraudulent charges to his or her credit card, police said.

Two Tablet Computers Stolen

Two boys were charged with retail theft after police said they stole two tablet computers from a store in the 900 block of Erica Lane.

Thursday, Nov. 24

Vehicles Broken Into on Sumac Drive

  • A 32GB Apple iPod, valued at about $200, was taken from the center console of an unlocked vehicle, which was one of two left unlocked and parked in the driveway in the 2300 block of Sumac Drive.
  • At two separate homes, someone entered two unlocked vehicles parked in driveways in the 2300 block of Sumac Drive. Nothing was taken.
  • At another home in the 2300 block of Sumac Drive, someone stole two Swiss Army pocketknives, valued at $20 each, from the glovebox of a vehicle left unlocked in the driveway.
Wednesday, Nov. 23

Driving on a Suspended License

James K. Woodard, 47, of the 300 block of Somonauk St., Yorkville, was charged with driving on a suspended license after a traffic stop at Countryside and Center parkways, Yorkville police said.

Domestic Battery Alleged but Not Charged

A 20-year-old Montgomery man allegedly grabbed a 19-year-old woman’s wrist and twisted it, hit her aggressively with a pillow and pushed her to the ground during an argument at about 8 p.m., Yorkville police said. The alleged victim refused to sign a complaint against him, Yorkville police said in the news release.

Tuesday, Nov. 22

Ticket from Traffic Crash

Jacqueline S. Beverage, 36, of 1111 Parkview Court, Sandwich, was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after a traffic crash at about 7:20 a.m. at Route 34 and Sycamore Road, Yorkville police said.

Sunday, Nov. 20

Clothing Allegedly Stolen

Laura Larios, 18, of the 300 block of West Jones Street, Plano, and a girl were charged with retail theft for allegedly taking $74 in clothing from a business in the 900 block of Erica Lane, Yorkville police said.
