Police Arrest Man Accused of Stealing $1,000 worth of Merchandise

Yorkville police reported the following event for Dec. 20.

Retail Theft

Police charged a 28-year-old Sandwich man with a Dec. 13 retail theft. Police allege Jamie Hufstedler, of the 200 block of Pleasant Avenue, stole approximately $1,000 worth of merchandise from  a retail establishment in the 1600 block of Beecher Avenue, according to reports.

Persons charged with a crime, or issued a citation for violation of a local ordinance, are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Retail theft is way up and so is fraud, we need tougher sentences on these crimes as we all pay for their crimes.

Why is it that the name of the accused (not convicted) person is always printed in newspapers and on Patch, but the businesses are never specifically mentioned?
