Plano Man Sentenced to Six Years in Prison on Weapons Charge

Daryl Louis Johnson also was convicted of domestic battery against his roommate, Kendall County State's Attorney Eric Weis said.

A 54-year-old Plano man with four prior felony convictions was sentenced to six years in prison Friday for having a loaded .357-caliber revolver and ammunition.

Daryl Louis Johnson, of the 400 block of East Abe Street, was arrested after his roommate, who also was his landlord, accused him of domestic battery, according to a news release from State’s Attorney Eric Weis. Plano police found the revolver and ammunition in Johnson’s belongings during their investigation, Weis said.

Jurors convicted Johnson of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and domestic battery after a two-day trial in March. Judge John Barsanti held a sentencing hearing Friday.

“I want to commend the Plano Police Department, including lead detective Gene Morton, for their work in helping gather the necessary evidence to convict this felon,” Weis said in the news release. “Because of the close working relationship between my office and law enforcement, we were able to get another dangerous criminal off the streets.”
