No Yorkville Area Businesses Cited in First Tobacco Compliance Testing

A business in Minooka was found to be out of compliance.

In the first round of tobacco compliance testing, no Yorkville area businesses were found to be out of compliance. 

On November 25th, 2013 the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office completed the first of three rounds of Tobacco Compliance Testing. All but one of the seven tobacco retailers in unincorporated Kendall County were in compliance with the Illinois tobacco laws.

One violation occurred at the Minooka Citgo located in the 17000 block of Ridge Road in Minooka. An employee was cited for unlawful sale of tobacco to a minor, a petty offense.

The compliance checks are performed to determine if local tobacco retailers are complying with state minimum-age tobacco laws which prohibit the sale of tobacco to persons under the age of 18. 

With the help from a grant awarded by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission’s “Kids Can’t Buy ‘Em Here” Tobacco Enforcement Program.
