Men Found Hiding in House After Fleeing Police, Ditching Car: Cops

Two men are accused of fleeing a traffic stop and trespassing at a Kendall County home — unbeknownst to the sleeping residents.

Four people were asleep in their home when two men took refuge in the house after fleeing police, according to the Beacon News.

Daeshawn Wooten, 20, of DeKalb, and Darrion Armstrong, 18, of St. Charles, are charged with criminal trespassing and felony burglary after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop in Yorkville. Wooten was also charged with suspended license and fleeing/eluding police, the Beacon reported.

Kendall County Sheriff's police said they were called in to assist Yorkville police at around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday after a vehicle fled during a traffic stop for speeding.

Police said the vehicle was found in the area of Highpoint and Fox roads, but the occupants had fled on foot.

Officers followed their footprints in the snow to a home in the 14000 block of Meadow Lane, where police said Wooten and Armstrong were hiding out — unbeknownst to the sleeping residents. One man was found in the attic, while the other was found in the home's entryway, according to the Beacon.

During the investigation, police discovered that Wooten had three outstanding DeKalb County warrants: one for aggravated assault, and two failure to appear in court on charges of underage consumption of alcohol and a public order crime, according to police.
