Man Charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Firearm: Sheriff

Rodney Rosencrans, 46, was given multiple charges in March 4 incident that took place at Route 71 and Hollenback Road about 2:30 p.m.

A man was charged with multiple citations including counts of unlawful use of a firearm, possession of ammunition without a FOID card and cannabis possession, said the Kendall County Sheriff’s office.

The incident occurred on March 4 at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the area of Route 71 and Hollenback Road, Yorkville, in unincorporated Kendall County.

Deputies observed a vehicle traveling 73 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour speed zone and initiated a traffic stop.

Driver Rodney Rosencrans, 46, of Marseilles, Ill., was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun, extra ammunition, cannabis and a glass cannabis pipe, said the Sheriff’s office. He was also discovered to have a revoked FOID card.

Rosencrans was subsequently charged with two counts of felony aggravated unlawful use of a firearm, felony count of possession of ammunition without a FOID card, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also cited for speeding, driving without insurance and driving on an expired license.

Passenger Ronald Callaway, 45, of Naplate, Ill., was charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bond was set at 10 percent of $10,000 for Rosencrans and 10 percent of $1,500 for Callaway and both posted bond.

Rosencrans is due in Kendall County Court on March 13.
