A Yorkville homeowner
startled off a burglar from his home in an incident on Tuesday early afternoon.
According to Yorkville Police Deputy Chief Larry Hilt, the burglary took place around 11:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Poplar, inside the River’s Edge subdivision.
The homeowner entered his home and spotted a man escaping out the back window. The homeowner gave chase and then called Police.
Yorkville Police and the Kendall County Sheriff’s office assisted in the incident to locate the man with Sheriff K-9 units, but as of now Hilt said the man has not been apprehended.
He was described a white male in his late teens or early 20’s wearing a green-hooded sweatshirt.
Nothing appears to have been stolen during the burglary, said Hilt.
He said it appeared the burglar had entered the home through an unlocked window.
“Keep an eye out and make sure your doors and windows are locked, especially when you’re not home,” advised Hilt.
