Delaney on Unpaid Administrative Leave
Yorkville's former deputy police chief expected to appear in court Wednesday.
Former Yorkville Deputy Police Chief Dave Delaney is no longer on the payroll.
Delaney, who is accused of stealing prescription medication from a department medication disposal program he oversaw, asked city officials to place him on unpaid leave effective June 20, Police Chief Rich Hart said Tuesday. Delaney was placed on paid administrative leave May 27 when Illinois State Police arrested him on allegations of theft of government property and possession of a controlled substance.
“This leave of absence will be in effect until the city is in the receipt of a resignation or until other employment terms have been determined by the city’s Board of Fire & Police Commission,” according to a news release the city issued Tuesday.
