Court Date Scheduled for Woman Accused of Lying About Rape

Annette C. Brown, 33, of Sandwich, is next scheduled to appear in court Oct. 3, Kendall County court records show.

The 33-year-old Sandwich woman accused of lying to police about being raped and held against her will outside Plano is scheduled to appear in court next month.

Annette C. Brown was charged with three Class 4 felonies three days after telling Aug. 7 that a uniformed man in what appeared to be an unmarked police car pulled her over, pulled a gun on her and raped her in a nearby cornfield, authorities said. Police initially released a decription of the assailant only to announce within a matter of days that they did not believe he existed.

She is accused of filing a false police report.

Authorities announced Aug. 9 that they did not believe a sexual assault nor a police imposter were involved in an incident.

"During the course of the investigation, detectives from the Kendall County Sheriff's Office evaluated the physical evidence recovered during the investigation, photographs, leads developed during the investigation and witness statements, including the initial statements from Brown," an Aug. 9 news release stated. "After an intensive review of the investigation, detectives determined that the facts of the case were not consistent with Brown's allegations."
