Kevin Sings the News: 'Be Careful What You Say'

Patch's very own troubadour, Kevin Trudo, brings you a song based on the last seven days of headlines every Friday.

Welcome to the second installment of Kevin Sings the News. Every Friday, local musician Kevin Trudo will bring us a new original song, based on the Patch headlines from the past seven days.

This is probably as good a time as any to tell you that Kevin Sings the News is not always going to be funny. This week, in fact, it isn’t. Kevin found himself moved by two stories from the past week – a in Oswego, and a farmer buried in a in Plainfield – and spun a morality tale from them.

The song is called “Be Careful What You Say,” and the lyrics are printed below. Let us know what you think. For more on Kevin Trudo, check out his Facebook page.

Be Careful What You Say

Since you asked, then a black man came to the door
And just stabbed her when she answered, then he just ran away
There's no why and no who just a panic running through the neighborhood
It's terrifying to lose the place where you feel safe

But then
Be careful what you say
You scared a lotta people, ma'am
And that's not okay

And sometimes all you need to know to know a man is the
To know he died the way he lived
And he lived present and full of what he had every single day

You have that same chance

Be careful what you say
You'll be remembered some way
Be careful what you say
