Obituary: Tommy David Hartzfeld

Tommy David Hartzfeld, 67, July 22, 19945 - Feb. 23, 2013.

Tommy David Hartzfeld, age 67 of Plano, IL, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on July 22, 1945 in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Jesse and Neva (Darlington) Hartzfeld.

Tommy was united in marriage on April 3, 1982 to the former Wendy Scull, and they spent the next 30 happy years of their lives together. Mr. Hartzfeld served his country proudly as a Sergeant with the United States Army while stationed in Germany. Mr. Hartzfeld was a member of the United Methodist Church of Plano in Plano. Tommy was employed, for 41 years, by AT&T, and was a 15 year Union Steward for Illinois Bell. He was a lifetime member of the Plano American Legion Post #395, the Yorkville Moose and the Plano Masonic Lodge. Tommy was an avid hunter, Harley Davidson enthusiast and Green Bay Packer fan. He enjoyed attending his five daughters and 10 grandchildrens’ sporting events and all family activities.Tommy loved his wife, his five girls, and his grandchildren dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy Hartzfeld of Plano; his daughters, Nichole (Marcos Gonzalez) Hartzfeld of Marseilles, Tracee (Scott) Leitner of Newark,  Summer (Josh) Beyer of Sandwich, Brandi (Chad) Martin of Newark, and Mindy (Bobby) Hatcher of Plano; ten grandchildren, Josh and Autumn Beyer, Lucas, Logan and Landon Martin, Hannah, Hayden and Levi Hatcher, Savanna Leitner and Michael Gonzalez; his mother, Neva Hartzfeld of Pittsburg, Kan.; brother, Bob (Sandra) Hartzfeld of Bartlesville, Okla.; father and mother-in-law, Nick and Pat Scull of Sandwich, IL; brothers-in-law, Jeff (Carla) Scull of Yorkville,  Scott (Vicki) Scull of Oregon, Paul Scull of Plano, Steve (Ellie) Scull of Decatur, and Bill Crawford of Rockford; also, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Hartzfeld; brother, Joe Hartzfeld; sister, Jessie Lea (Frank) Myer; mother-in-law, Wanda Tuttle-Kubicka; and brother-in-law, Ray Crawford, Jr.

A Funeral Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 W. South St., Plano, with Pastor Kent Svendsen, officiating and concluding with Military Honors.

Friends may visit from 3 p.m. until a Masonic Service at 6 p.m. with visitation continuing until the Funeral Service at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at the Funeral Home in Plano.
