Obituary: Lois V. (Holle) Morris

Lois V. (Holle) Morris, Dec. 2, 1928 - Jan. 9, 2013.

Lois V. (Holle) Morris, age 84 of Plano, IL passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. She was born on Dec. 2, 1928 in Aurora, the daughter of William and Elda (Moenkemeier) Holle.

Lois was a member of the 1946 graduating class of East Aurora High School. She was united in marriage on June 21, 1946 to Mr. Wesley N. Morris Sr. and they spent the next 42 happy years together until his passing on June 6, 1988. Lois was a city girl who married the love of her life and became a full-time farm wife, mother, secretary and bookkeeper. Lois and her husband, Wes, were members of the Kendall County Farm Bureau. She served for many years as an Election Judge in Little Rock Township and was a former member of the Big Rock Welsh Cemetery Board. Mrs. Morris was a longtime member of the English Congregational United Church of Christ in Big Rock, IL where she participated in its Willing Workers Club. Lois volunteered for several years in the Gift Shop at both the old Copley Hospital and later at the new Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. Lois loved sports, especially her Cubbies, bowling, traveling and in her later years, playing cards, wii golf and beanbag baseball with her friends at the Bickford Senior Living in Oswego. She had especially fond memories of the many family vacations spent in Hawaii. Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many dear friends.

She is survived by her four children, Deb (Tom) Tvrdik of Plano, Susan (Randy) Michael of Sandwich, Wesley (Diane) Morris, Jr. of Big Rock, and Lisa (Kevin) Tierney of Plano; her ten grandchildren; her seventeen great-grandchildren; her two sisters-in-law, Theresa Holle and Mary Jane Bowker; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wesley N. Morris, Sr.; her two brothers, Robert and Roy Holle; her two brothers-in-law, Ronald Bowker and Harold Morris.

Memorials in Lois’ name may be directed to American Cancer Society or the Big Rock English Congregational United Church of Christ.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at the Big Rock English Congregational United Church of Christ, 301 Rhodes Avenue, Big Rock, with Reverend Bill Riegle, officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Rock Welsh Cemetery in Big Rock.

Friends may visit from 2 - 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 1010 West South Street in Plano.
