Obituary: Kenneth D. Brugh

Kenneth D. Brugh, 92, died Friday. Friends may visit from 3-8 p.m. today at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Pkwy.

Larson-Nelson Funeral Home provided the following obituary:

Kenneth D. Brugh, age 91, of Yorkville, passed away on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at the Provena Mercy Center, in Aurora.  He was born on July 25, 1921 in Culver, Ind., the son of Donald and Dessa (Wilhelm) Brugh. 

Kenneth was united in marriage on Oct. 2, 1943 in Elgin, to the former Darlene Chally, and they spent 69 happy years of their lives together. He was an active member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Montgomery.  Mr. Brugh served his country proudly with the United States Air Force during WWII. He was employed, for many years, as a Tool & Die Maker and Supervisor by Lyon Metal in Montgomery. Mr. Brugh was a member of the Yorkville American Legion, Post #489, in Yorkville. He enjoyed several hobbies, including bowling, golfing and softball. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.

Ken is survived by his wife, Darlene Brugh, of Yorkville; his children, Darolee (John) Nielsen, of Janesville, Wisc., Gary (Lorraine) Brugh, of Valparaiso, Ind., and Patricia (Keith) Auberry, of Yorkville; his five grandchildren, Ilyana (Matt) Fitzsimons, of California, Preston (Kristan) Nielsen, of Wisconsin, Joshua (Shannon) Brugh, of Washington, Shawna (Matthew) Slack, of Yorkville, and Ryan Auberry, of Yorkville; his eight great-grandchildren with one more soon-to-be; his brother, Ernest Brugh, of Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Donnabelle Bohling and Geraldine Timms.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 1233 Douglas Ave., Montgomery, with Pastor Scott Guhl officiating. Interment will follow in the West Lisbon Cemetery, Lisbon.

Friends may visit from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Pkwy., Yorkville, IL. 

The Brugh family would like to thank Provena Hospice, Provena Mercy Hospital, and Hillside Healthcare Center for the wonderful care given to Ken.
