Gerald Edward Thacker, age 71 of Yorkville passed away on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at the Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born on June 30, 1941 in Leamington, Ill. the son of Thomas and Erva (Belt) Thacker.
Gerry was united in marriage on July 21, 1962 at the Helmar Lutheran Church in Yorkville to the former Miss Carolyn Brue and they spent the next 50 happy years together. He proudly served his country as a Veteran of the United States Army. Mr.Thacker was a longtime member of Helmar Lutheran Church in Yorkville. Gerry was formerly employed for 25 years as a Correctional Officer at the Sheridan Correctional Center in Sheridan, Ill. He was later employed as a School Bus Driver for both the Plano School District #88 and the Yorkville School District #115. Gerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by both his family and friends.

Gerry is survived by his wife, Carolyn Thacker of Yorkville; his daughters, Patricia Thacker of Yorkville and Lori Stack of Woodstock; his grandchildren, Hannah Marie Bennett and Trevor Joseph Stack; his brother, Gale Thacker of Mt. Vernon; his sisters, Janie Emsinger of Mt. Carmel, Janet Reynolds of Kankakee, and Carolyn Showman of Oregon; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Erva Thacker; and his brother, Clinton Thacker.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 East Countryside Parkway in Yorkville, IL with Mr. Don Davidson, officiating.
Friends may visit from 9 a.m. until the Hour of Service on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Funeral Home in Yorkville.
