Obituary: Earnest Lee Evans

Earnest Lee Evans, age 87 of Sandwich passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at his home. He was born on March 18, 1925 in Mabscott, W.V. the son of Pierce and Dilla (Lester) Evans.

Earnest was united in marriage on Nov. 22, 1946 to the former Miss Mildred “Kathleen” Williams and they spent many happy years together until her passing. Mr. Evans served his country proudly as a Veteran of the United States Army in the 7th Amored Division during World War II. He was a member of the Plano Church of Christ in Plano. Earnest was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Earnest is survived by his daughter, Ronda (Fred) Johnson of Sandwich; his granddaughter, Tess (Bill) Mezger of Sandwich; his great-grandsons, Billy and Nate Mezger of Sandwich; his brothers, Gene Evans of Sand Branch, WV and Bill (Ruth) Evans of Copperstown, N.D.; his sisters, Juanita Blakenbeckler of Sand Branch, W.V., Betty Ayers of Sand Branch, W.V. and Annabelle Daniel of Ariz.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierce and Dilla Evans; his wife, Kathleen Evans; his grandson, Fredrick Avary Johnson, III; his four brothers and two sisters.

Interment will take place at a later date in the Royal Palm Cemetery in St. Petersburg, Fla.
