Obituary: Betty Spahr

Aunt Betty, 92, of Plano, died Saturday.

Larson-Nelson Funeral Home provided the following obituary:

Betty Spahr, a.k.a. Aunt Betty, age 92, of Plano, IL passed away September 22, 2012. Her parents were Lewis and Mae Wells. They all moved to Plano from Oak Park in the 1930’s. Betty graduated from Plano High School; she lived in Plano most of her life and loved her hometown.

Betty met Forest Spahr and they married in 1940. Forest passed away in 1983. Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Bill Reynolds; cousins, Dick and Sue Scott of Charleston, IL; cousin, Peter Scott of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; the Hacker family and Jay Martin; and many wonderful friends in the area.

Betty was filled with love for all and showed it. She was always cheerful and charitable and was known as “Aunt Betty” to many of her friends’ children.  She was a very active volunteer in the community, a Friend of the Plano Community Library, member of the Legion Auxiliary, past member of The Kendall County Historical Society as artifacts chairman, and a member of the Sandwich Christian Science Church.

There will be no funeral service. Interment at a later date in Fort Snelling Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN next to her beloved husband, Forest. Condolences are received at: Reynolds, 110 Carlson Pkwy., #220, Minnetonka, MN 55305. Betty’s family would like to thank the Bickford of Oswego staff for their care and all that they did for her.
