John Michael Bradstreet, 61, Passed After a Battle with Dementia

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Oct. 22 and the funeral service will be on Oct. 23.

John Michael Bradstreet, age 61 of Yorkville, IL passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with frontotemporal lobe dementia. He was born on June 17, 1952 in Aurora, IL the son of Lester and Phyllis Y. (Dalen) Bradstreet.

John was united in marriage on October 13, 1990 to Patricia M. Ingham and they spent the next 23 happy years together. Mr. Bradstreet was a member of Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville, IL. 

John was employed for 38 years as an Outage Project Manager for ComEd-Exelon. He was, for over 10 years, a Board Member of the Yorkville Park and Recreation Department. John was also for several years, a Board Member of the Bristol-Kendall Sanitation District in Yorkville, IL. He was an avid woodworker who made gifts for his family and friends. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle who will be missed by all who knew him.

John is survived by his wife, Pati Bradstreet of Yorkville, IL; his children, Tammy (Matthew) Steele, Stacie (Gregory) Moyer, Wendy Hippard, Michelle (Ralph) Velez, Heather Bradstreet, Carie Hippard, Holly (Nick) Weiss, Gregory (Lacy) Bradstreet and Jaclyn Bradstreet; his grandchildren, Nicolle, Shad, Shelby, Dustin, Hayden, Aaliyah, Emily, Londyn, Andrew and Grady; his great-granddaughter, Afton; his sister, Carol Wilbanks; his mother-in-law, Alice Ingham; two sisters-in-law, Kelly Thomas and Polli Buzzini;  two brothers-in-law, Ric Ingham and Randy Buzzini;  as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Bradstreet; a sister, Cheryl Bradstreet and his grandson, Alex Salas.

John was an inspiration to those around him with his quiet insistence on working through his disabilities for the last eight years, as his ability to communicate faded.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Cross Lutheran Church, 8609 Rt. 47 in Yorkville, IL with Pastor Erik Gauss, officiating. Interment will follow in Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Yorkville, IL.

Memorials may be made to the family which will be forwarded to Northwestern Hospital for further research for Frontotemporal Lobe Dementia.

Friends may visit from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 East Countryside Parkway in Yorkville, IL.
