I would like to begin by expressing my heartfelt thanks to everyone who voted for me for County Board in last week’s primary election and to everyone who helped with my campaign. Although our efforts were unsuccessful, we came much closer than the conventional wisdom said we would, losing by slightly more than two votes per precinct!
During the campaign, I raised specific issues. These included a commitment to fiscally conservative government, as well as support for greater financial transparency and a policy of conducting a periodic forensic audit of county government. Even though I will not be on the new County Board when its members take office in December, I plan to continuing working for implementation of these policies, as I believe that they are vital to the long-term financial and economic health of Kendall County.
Lastly, to each person who thinks that their vote doesn’t matter, the closeness of this year’s election should provide a clear answer that your vote really does count!
