Photos: Hatcher Hosts Senior Spelling Bee

The title went to Norman Hernandez, of Oswego.

State Rep. Kay Hatcher peppered a handful of area senior citizens with tough words - like elegance and eloquence - Friday at a Senior Spelling Bee in Sugar Grove.

Norman Hernandez, of Oswego, captured first place, while Jacqueline Heafer, of Montgomery, placed second.

Contestants were age 50 and older in the 50th house district, which includes parts of Kane, Kendall and La Salle counties. The judges included Yorkville Patch editor Jillian Duchnowski, Kathy Gresey from the Kane County Chronicle, Kathy Farren from the Record newspapers in Kendall County.
