Photos: All-Star Cheerleaders Gearing up for Competition

Spirit Cheerleading's first competitive cheer squads are learning choreography.

Spirit Cheerleading's Team Pride (ages 6-8) and Team Passion (ages 8-14) are preparing for their first seasons of competitive cheer. Spirit Cheerleading leaders added the All Star cheer teams to their programs when at 125 W. Wheaton Ave.

The competitive teams have two-hour practices twice a week, Spirit Cheerleading Director Kristy Abney said. They will compete in four meets and perform one exhibition this season and likely compete in a full season of eight to 10 meets next year, she said.

“We plan to compete against teams from all over the Midwest,” Abney said.

Spirit Cheerleading also plans to add an Oswego that will practice in the Yorkville gym at the end of January. For more information, see the organization's website.

Editor's note: A special thanks to Doris Bateman for submitting these photographs of Team Passion. An earlier version of this article had the incorrect team names. Yorkville Patch regrets the error.
