Country Singer DJ Miller Headlining Kendall County Fair

DJ Miller promises a big entrance around 9 p.m. Saturday at the Kendall County fairgrounds.

Country and Christian singer DJ Miller has been busy with publicity and preparing an album this summer, but he promises plenty of crowd interaction Saturday at the Kendall County Fair.

“Every county fair is typically outside, which is great, because that gives us all kind of freedom. I can jump as high as I want," Miller said. “We’ve got all kind of things planned for it, including a pretty big entrance.”

Miller, who grew up on a Christmas tree farm in Indiana, started appearing on stage at age 2 with his father's country rock band. Back then, he had a toy guitar and a toilet plunger as a mic stand. More recently, his first national single “Between Sundays” topped the PowerSource Inspirational Country Music Chart in December and won Yallwire’s Best New Artist video in 2011.

He'll perform about 9 p.m. Saturday, after the Voo Davis Blues band. The concert is free with admission to the fair, but organizers suggest getting there early to ensure a good seat. Some bleacher are available, but chairs and blankets are welcome, too.

"He's not just on country top charts, he's also on Christian top charts," said Krista Wheeler, of Xcellence Entertainment & Marketing, which provides publicity for the Kendall County Fair. "I think that will go over really well in Kendall County."

Wheeler enjoys his Elvis covers, as well as his duet of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" he performs with a fiddle player. She also finds "Between Sundays" and "Ink on my Skin" really relatable.

Miller said he plans to perform all the songs on his upcoming album - and then some.

"They will definitely be getting a sneak peak of the album, and we’ll be doing a lot of covers too," Miller said.
