Contest Seeks First Leap Year Day Baby Announcement

The first person to post a birth announcement for a baby born on Feb. 29, 2012, on Yorkville, Oswego, Montgomery, and Naperville Patch will receive a $50 gift certificate to Target.

Bridgette Thurmond was the first “Leap Year Baby” of 1984 in the Chicago area, according to her profile on The Honor Society of Leap Year Day Babies website.

She says that she still has the newspaper and the photograph of her and her mother, and she’s counting down the years until 2016, when both she and her daughter will be 8 years old.

With that spirit, Patch is looking for the first Leap Year Day Baby in our neck of the woods. So, we’re having a little contest.
