Kendall County Food Pantry: Donation Plea
Kendall County Food Pantry needs holiday donations
The Kendall County Food Pantry has been fortunate in the past (since 1987) to be able to provide ample amounts of food for our clients due to generous donations from the community.
Unfortunately, the economy has overwhelmed our efforts to provide the amount of food to our clients that we have in the past. Our grants have been cut in half, our donations are down by 25%, and our client base is up 300%. This might be the first year we will be giving chickens instead of turkeys for Thanksgiving. There might not be a special Christmas distribution at all. We have already cut our egg distribution from one dozen a week, to one dozen every other week. The pre-packed grocery bag we give out has gone from 15 items to 8.
We are putting out a plea to the community for donations. Money ($1.00 becomes $6.00) and food is needed. Specifically the food we are short on is: canned fruit, cooking oil, soup, canned meats and cereal, but anything we receive is a blessing.
