The Kendall County Food Pantry would like to thank the Oswego District Garden for their support and dedication to us during the growing season this year.
This is the 5th year of Oswego park district planting and harvesting produce for the sole purpose of donation to KCFP. They delivered 2700 lbs of produce to us this year.
The majority of the produce was directly from the park, but a portion came from the personal gardens of volunteers and other community members. They provided bean, beets, kale, kohlirabi, tomatoes, peas, carrots, squash, onions, peppers, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, swiss chard, radishes, spinach, lettuce, okra, eggplant, leeks, turnips, tomatillos, cabbage, parsley, mint, thyme, rosemary, and basil.
We especially want to give regards to the volunteer coordinators who contributed over 500 hours of effort this year: Chris Dombkowski, Carmen Rhoden, Jackie Berg and Sue Bowling. These people were responsible for overseeing every aspect of the gardening effort, from beginning to end.
In addition, there were 42 volunteers who participated during the season.
A local Boy Scout, Steven Seeger, provided raised beds and fencing as his Eagle Scout project.
The Illinois Math and Science from aurora, filled the raised beds with soil and helped with the planting and harvest.
Many community businesses also supported the project:
Oswegoland Park District
H & E Associates
Again the Kendall County Food Pantry and our clients are more that grateful to all of you.
