Shopping Local: The Olive Gallery

A 30-day challenge to shop local takes her to The Olive Gallery.

The first time I tasted the brownies from the Olive Gallery, and learned that they were made with their specialty olive oil, I didn’t believe it. They tasted so light and chocolaty, not a hint of heavy olive oil. That brownie is what converted me to buying gourmet oils from our locally owned and operated The Olive Gallery located at 2671 N. Bridge Street.

Today I stopped in to stock up on my favorite dipping oil, Garlic olive oil and Strawberry Balsamic Vinegar. While I was there I sampled some of their other oils and balsamic vinegars. You can’t do that when you order online. The blood orange vinegar is so light and would be great in salad dressings. As I have learned more about what goes into my food, I have chosen to make more things homemade and less prepackaged. Making salad dressing is so simple and with the right ingredients is healthier than many of the commercially prepared stuff.

Their oils and vinegars make great gifts for the holidays, and I was happy to cross another person off my list. They will love the oils I bought for them. I’m going to go on their website (www.theOliveGallery.com) and print off some of their recipes to include with the gift.
