Shopping Local: Happy Hounds

30 days of shopping locally; where will be find great products and service next?

Today my dog, Finley and I went to visit . They are located at 691 N. Bridge St, Yorkville.

As we stepped in the door, Elvis, the store's official greeter ran to say hello. We walked through the store checking out all the brands of dry and raw pet food, supplements, pet toys, fashionable collars/leashes and treats that Finley tried to steal a bite of.

I also noticed the kittens up for adoption. What a great way to find loving homes – running free in a boutique pet store meeting potential adopters. (Patch featured three of them Friday .)

Happy Hounds also has an extensive grooming salon. Everything from a full groom to a nail trim and even a do-it yourself dog wash. I like to use the do-it yourself dog wash where you use the salon’s grooming products, towels and blow dryer. You can safely bathe your dog in a professional tub and leave all the dirt and hair behind.

After Finley’s bath, we decided to pick out some treats for all the dogs in our household. Finley chose a peanut butter squirrel and after devouring it, she reluctantly picked 3 more specialty treats for her furry friends. We talked with Lora about the new products she has coming in for the holidays and said goodbye to the kittens.

This is what shopping locally is all about – a fun, unique store that gives amazing customer service, products that are reasonably priced and all just a few mile drive from my home. Finley and I will be back for another bath before the holidays to buy more treats and get food when we run low. Finley can’t wait.
