Shopping Local: Dave's Meat Market

A 30-day challenge to shop local takes her to Dave's Meat Market.

I love any excuse to go into . I don’t even have to have an idea of what I want for dinner, I just go into the store and tell them I need something for dinner and they have so many choices.  Dave Meat Market is a locally owned and operated butcher shop that is known as the place that “meats your needs”.

Tonight I stop by and browse the meat cases and try to decide what to make for dinners this week. The beef tenderloin looks really good so I grab a pound of that, then a couple bone-in pork chops and finally some free-range chicken breasts.

Dave mentions to me that he posted some great recipes on his Facebook page for me to try out. How awesome is that? A butcher who not only tells you the best way to cook the cut of meat your buying, but also gives you recipes. Too bad he can’t swing over to my place and cook it too.

As I am packing up my meat purchases I decide to grab some specially made snack sticks for my husband. We both love all the flavors they carry, and it’s an easy snack to keep in the fridge.

This holiday season Dave’s Meat Market is carrying fresh Hoka turkeys and bone-in hams. You can even special order any meat cut. I’ve always wanted to try cooking a rib roast, maybe this year is the time to order that or maybe even prime rib.

They say the way to a man’s heart is through is stomach, and I want a really good Christmas gift this year. (Honey, if you’re reading this, I would love something shiny.)
