On the Campaign Trail - An Introduction

All politics are local!

A little less than a month from today, early voting opens for the March 20th primary election. As a candidate for the Kendall County board from District One, it will be my job to convince you, between now and then, that I am a viable alternative to what the incumbents can provide. It is my hope that you will take a few moments every now and then to get to know me and what I stand for.

I travel down this road occasionally.  It’s usually when the current group of politicians becomes so ingrained that they forget why they are in office and whom they represent.  I begin to feel unhappy with their product and want to complain.  Unfortunately, I believe that in order to complain one must first try to correct that with which he is unhappy.  So I run for the office that presents itself.

I have been blessed with many opportunities to serve the public in a widely diverse set of experiences.  I have served the residents of Yorkville as an Alderman, the residents of Fox Township as a Trustee, and the residents of Kendall County on several different advisory boards.  I have served as a board member for the Forest Foundation and as a board member for the KenCom 911 Operations Board.  These and other positions that I have held have allowed me to work with a wide spectrum of people solving an assortment of challenges.  I like to ask questions and I try to offer viewpoints and options to resolve these challenges.

One thing is for sure in this election.  It is filled with a colorful cast of characters.  Between the quirky incumbents and the wide range of challengers it is sure to be an interesting election.  Over the next several weeks I hope to address issues of interest to you, the voters of District One, and to share with you enough of my self that you will be comfortable allowing me to represent you on the County board.

To be sure, these opinions will be mine.  I hope to interest more of you in the political process and to also make you aware of the many ways we can all serve the community in which we live. Please feel free to post any questions you may have on the issues.  I’ll do my best to respond in a timely fashion.  Thanks for reading!
