Yorkville Gives Thanks: Readers Share the Reasons They're Thankful This Year

Share your gratitude with your friends and neighbors on this day of thanks.

Thanksgiving. A holiday steeped in American tradition. A day not only to test the limits of what should and should not be deep fried in a vat of boiling oil, but to also give thanks.

At Patch, we’re most thankful for our readers and the communities we serve. Without you there would be no Patch, and we’re truly grateful for the opportunity to serve you.

But we want to know what you’re most thankful for this Thanksgiving. We asked our Facebook friends last week the same question and below are some of their responses.

We’d like to hear from you, too. So, please leave your thoughts of gratitude in the comments section below.

For Cathleen Lechowicz her faith is what she is most thankful. Following her faith, Lechowicz said she is thankful for her family,, including husband, three sons, two daughters-in law, her mother, and three "precious grandchildren." She said she is also thankful for a warm home and her  extended family and friends.

"I am blessed and thankful for it all," she said.

Faith also was the top reason to be thankful for Janice Anderson Bly.

"The Lord saved my soul 38 years ago....and I am thankful for my family and home that the Lord has given to me," Bly said.

Diane Fann said she is thankful for her family and friends.

In addition to family and friends Mary Bernaski Tschannen said she is thankful her son is doing well following a medial procedure.

This Thankgiving will be one of reflection for Eleni Filippi.

"I'm thankful for the memories of my dad. This is our first Thanksgiving without him. But the great memories we have of him will keep us smiling while we gather," he said.

I am thankful for Life, Liberty (freedom) & the pursuit of happiness ("unalienable rights", with which all human beings are endowed by their Creator <~with Whom I am also thankful for!) and thank you to the U.S. military that serves to protect these rights! I am thankful for family and friends! I've been blessed! God Bless!

What a beautiful article! I am just getting to the newsletter but among many things, I am thankful for my relationship with Christ as well as the family and friends that I have here in IL and elsewhere. I moved here and knew no one. God blessed such that I have a host of people with whom to spend quality time and have great fellowship. In times such as these, such is truly a blessing.
