Vendors Sought For 'Go Green Environmental Fair'

Fair set for March 2.

The following information was provided by the Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Green Committee.

The Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Green Committee and the United City of Yorkville are seeking vendors, exhibitors and presenters for their fifth annual Go Green Environmental Fair to be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Yorkville High School, 797 Game Farm Rd.

The fair, which is free to the public, features 40 vendor booths spots, and offers opportunities for people who have expertise on environmental issues they would like to present in workshops. This year’s theme is “How To’s for the Homeowner,” and will include educational seminars featuring up to six topics and one family educational activity.

The application deadline for vendors’ spots and proposed presentations is Friday, Feb. 15.  Vendors who send their applications in by Friday, Feb. 1, will get a discount of $15 off the $50 fee. The Green Committee members will make the final decision on presenters and topics after Feb. 8.  Applications can be downloaded off the Chamber website at www. Yorkvillechamber.org

“This Fair is intended to educate and inform the community on various environmental issues and solutions,” said Cheryl Lee of CL Design Build.  “This 2013 Fair provides a great opportunity for local businesses and non-profit organizations to showcase their ‘green’ products and services to the community.”

The Green Committee, which was established in 2009, meets the third Wednesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. at the Chamber office, 26 W. Countryside Pkwy, Yorkville.  Committee membership is open to anyone who is interested in promoting eco-friendly community awareness. In addition to the Environmental Fair, the annual Rain Barrel contest, which will be held in May 2013.
