Kendall County 4-H Youth Aim to Break Bowl-A-Thon Record

Donations this year will go to the Kendall County Food Pantry.

The Kendall County 4-H Federation aims to break its past donation record during next month’s Bowl-A-Thon. The 14th annual event will raise funds for the Kendall County Food Pantry.

To reach their goal, 4-H Federation youth are seeking donations to support the cause, as well as donations of appropriate prizes for each of the 4-H members bowling in the fund-raiser. This year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 23 at Idle Hours Lanes in Sandwich.

The 4-H Federation is a small group of high-school-age 4-H youth from throughout the county. Together, they plan, organize and execute this event, and other leadership and service projects in Kendall County.

The annual Bowl-A-Thon is the group’s largest community service project. Each year, they have raised thousands of dollars for various causes. In 2010, they raised more than $2,600 for local food pantries; $2,900 was donated to Honor Flight Chicago in 2011; $2,500 went to Heifer International in 2012 and $3350 was raised for Heifer International last year.

If you would like to donate to this event, contact your local 4-H Federation member, or contact 4-H Program Coordinator Kim Eisnaugle at keisnaug@illiois.edu or at 630-553-5823. For more information on University of Illinois Extension 4-H programs in Kendall County, contact Eisnaugle or visitweb.extension.illinois.edu/dkk/.
