Quilts and the Civil War
To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War, the Friends of the Yorkville Public Library will hold a free, week-long exhibit called Quilts and the Civil War starting on April 9 and running through April 16.
Civil War era quilts will be on display and a variety of Civil War presentations will be given throughout the week including a presentation by Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln (Mr. and Mrs. Max Daniels) called the “Road to the Civil War”, a display of Dick Popp's Fort Sumter diorama, a program given by Dr. Clarice Boswell called "Underground Railroad Quilts" (she will discuss her collection of vintage quilts), and Natasha Lehrer from Esther’s Place in Big Rock will demonstrate weaving and spinning.
Watch Patch’s daily calendar for times and dates for the presentations.
