The Closet has grown significantly in just 1 year! Now it desperately needs extra space for processing and storing off-season donated clothing. The church basement would be a fine place for this but requires $40,000 worth of remodeling: sump pit and pump, laundry sink, walls and ceiling tiles, etc. And, of course, skilled trades men and women to do it: plumbers, carpenters, tile layers, bricklayer, etc. Yorkville HS seniors, Stephanie Kleinhanzl and Russell Stuebinger, with friend Johnathan Merrick,  have taken on this effort!

St. John UCC Community Clothes Closet celebrates it's 1-year anniversary on Sat. Oct 6, 2012. Since our grand opening October 2011, the closet has given away more than 15,000 items of new and used clothes (which includes more than 350 brand new coats from Operation Warm). This number does not count toys, shoes, belts, purses, accessories, furniture or household itmes. Each family receives at least 5 clothing items per family member for free; we do not sell.

All items coming into the CCC are donated by individuals and companies. Co-ministers of the CCC--Lucy Smith (a Uniting America Fellow) and Allison Krunnsfusz organize and manage the monthly give-away event at the church. Questions?
