River Road Bridge Set to Open in Early July

D Construction, the contractor for the bridge, is currently removing pavement for grading.

The long awaited River Road Bridge looks like it will be set to open for early July.

The United City of Yorkville said that "Construction has been moving swiftly" for the past week.

Currently, D Construction is removing pavement on Kings Street for grading. They  are anticipating completion on July 4.

Previously the City's Public Works Committee estimated the bridge could be open by July 1.

The bridge, which shared an abutment with the Blackberry Creek dam, was closed in 2011 after officials noticed a crack in the abutment worsening. They had planned to remove the dam, replace the bridge and restore traffic by October of 2012.
