NWS: Freezing Rain Advisory with Ice Accumulations in Effect for Kendall County on Sunday

Up to a quarter-of-an-inch of ice could accumulate, the weather service said.

Update, Sunday 2:51 p.m.

Freezing rain advisory has been updated to 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening for Kendall County, according to the National Weather Service.

Update, Saturday 5:35 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a freezing rain advisory that will be in effect from 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning to 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening.

Due to the fact that the soil will be frozen, significant ice accumlations are possible, warns the NWS. Sidewalks and roadways may turn into sheets of ice, making travel dangerous.

The NWS advises to prepare for slippery roads and use caution while driving.

Original story

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for Sunday where significant amounts of ice accumulation is possible. The watch area includes Kendall County and the surrounding area.

The storm could begin Sunday morning and stretch through Sunday night, according to the NWS. The report said the day will consist of both freezing rain and sleet with a possible quarter-of-an-inch accumulation of ice.

The potential accummulation could make travel difficult and the NWS is urging precaution.

A winter storm watch means there is a potential for icy weather. The storm is still in the developing stages and any change in forecast could result in a shift in the expected accumulation and type of precipitation, the NWS said.
