Summer Theatre Workshop Meet and Greet This Saturday

Families are invited to a Meet and Greet and Open House to learn about Indian Valley Theatres' Summer Theatre Workshops. Held at the Sandwich Opera House on Saturday May 4th from 1-4pm.

Indian Valley Theatre is now taking registrations for it’s two Summer Theatre Workshops. With these sessions, IVT offers children of all ages a fun, safe and rewarding atmosphere to learn about theatre and build confidence.

Families interested in learning more before registering are invited to come to a Workshop Meet and Greet being held at the Sandwich Opera House Community Room on Saturday May 4th from 1-4pm. Parents and students can meet the teachers, tour the Opera House, ask questions before registering for the workshop.

Now in its 30th year, IVT’s Children’s Theatre Workshop will be held June 10th thru June 21st (Mon. - Fri.) and is for students entering 1st grade in the fall through 8th grade. The cost for the two-week program is $80.00 per student. This year we are excited to bring to the stage The Sasparilla Kid and the Bally Hoo Belle Gang, a play written by Alethia Hummel. Children will get to take part in an action packed western adventure as they work to save Sasparilla Springs from the greatest threat it has ever seen. Complete with heroes, villains and tumbleweeds, every child is cast in a part adapted to fit their specific talents and needs that allow them to explore, imagine, create and have fun through the world of theatre arts.

The High School program, One Act Wonders Acting Workshop, will be held June 17th thru June 21st (Mon. - Fri.) and is for students entering High School in fall, 2013 through graduated seniors. The cost for the one-week program is $60.00 per student. In a rigorous but relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, students will rehearse and prepare a variety of theatrical pieces, both comedic and dramatic. With the help of Sandwich High School theatre director, Kevin Pajor, the actors will explore their inner talents and prepare for a performance for their family and friends at the end of the program.

The registration deadline for both workshops is Monday, June 3rd, but classes will fill up quickly. More information is available at indianvalleytheatre.com. All classes and performances are held at the Historical Sandwich Opera House. For more information please visit IVT’s website, send an e-mail to indianvalleytheatre@gmail.com or call 815-793-2310.
