Shopping Local: Stonefire Restaurant and Pub

30 Days of Shopping Local- Stonefire Restaurant and Pub

provides a unique dining experience in Yorkville.  While it may not be on your usual commute down Veteran’s Parkway, it is more than worth it to go a couple of blocks out of your way to 2075 Marketview Drive on the north end of town near .  Ribs, rotisserie chicken, and even comfort foods like meatloaf are staples on the menu.  But Stonefire takes it one step further, making what could be a boring meal somewhere else into an experience a true “foodie” can enjoy.

At first glance, the menu appears to be pretty standard.  But meatloaf isn’t just meatloaf when it comes with sautéed onions and a veal demi glace.  The fried mozzarella is nothing like you would expect at a local bar, this is made with fresh mozzarella.  And the fried mushrooms?  Well, these are stuffed with a garlic and cream cheese stuffing.

One of my favorite things about Stonefire is the wait staff.   I have never had a server that did not seem to be truly cheerful and happy to make any accommodations necessary.  They are knowledgeable about the specials, able to answer detailed questions about the food and the way it is prepared.  Most of the servers can offer wine suggestions, and give detailed information to help you choose the wine or beer to best complement your dinner.  In addition to standard domestic bottles and drafts, they offer a variety of imported and seasonal beers and specialty drafts.

One of the best aspects of Stonefire is that they will customize your meal.  Although the catch of the day may come fried, they will bake it if the customer prefers.  They can make a dish more or less spicy and otherwise modify a dish to suit your palate.  There is a considerable variety in their side dishes, from French fries to balsalmic seared portabella and their fruits and vegetables are organic.  Additionally,  many of the entrees come in both full and half sized portions to accommodate any appetite.

Gift certificates are always available, and through Christmas Eve when you buy $50 in gift certificates, you receive $10 in bonus credit on the gift card, and $20 bonus credit for $100 in gift certificates.  Stonefire is open 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner.
